In Greek families the Mother is Queen. Big, bossy, taking charge. Taking care of all the children, cleaning, cooking and washing. The man was the protector and provider.
At least that’s how it was in the past.
The last 10 years with the economic crisis has changed everything, because both the men and the women now have to work to provide for their families. Taking care of children. cooking and having a nice clean home doesn’t make the woman a Queen. It actually makes her rather busy.
The matriarch in the American film famously said, The women are the neck. and the men are the heads. The neck turns the head. I think nobody knows what part of the body they are anymore, or where they’re going.
